Developing New Educational Programs
Like many associations, the American Society of Consulting Arborists (ASCA) has a strategic goal to advance its industry by identifying new areas in which education is needed, and then to develop high-quality educational programs that help industry professionals increase their knowledge and skill sets in that area.
- Through surveys and research, MSP worked with ASCA’s board of directors to identify plant appraisal as an up and coming service that Consulting Arborists were offering but for which little to no training was available.
- ASCA and six other industry organizations were working together to author a publication on tree and plant appraisal that could be used as the starting point for a course.
- MSP identified content experts and hired a curriculum consultant to work on the development of the course.
In 2018, ASCA hosted an instructors training and launched its highly anticipated Tree and Plant Appraisal Qualification (TPAQ). The association is working with industry organizations that will be hosting the training across the country.
